Violet Schmutz Graff
1922 – 2012

Violet Schmutz Graff passed away on December 29, 2012.  She was born February 10, 1922 in Washington, Utah to Herman Schmutz and Minnie Prisbrey.  She attended grade school in Washington, Utah and Junior and Senior High School in St. George.  Violet married Francis Bud "Red" Graff in 1946.  Together they raised their family of five children in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Violet was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She worked 30 years as an Information Supervisor, Toll Supervisor, and Trainer at the phone company in Las Vegas and afterword enjoyed more than 25 years of retirement.  Through her life, Violet enjoyed visits from her children and grandchildren, working in her flower and vegetable gardens, making and firing pottery, bowling, crocheting hats and hot pads, as well as making quilts for family and friends. She also loved monthly retirement luncheons with her friends from the phone company and taking trips to her property near Cedar City, Utah. She spent the last 8 years in Salt Lake City, Utah, and returned to Las Vegas each winter to visit family and friends.

Violet is preceded in death by a son, Bud Graff, who died in infancy, and a daughter, Linda (Jack (deceased)) Truran.  She is survived by daughters Fran (Vern) Phillips of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Barbara (Bill (deceased)) O'Brien of Gold Canyon, Arizona, as well as a son, Darwin Graff, of Holladay, Utah.  Violet will also be missed by 10 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.  She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend and will be truly missed.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 4, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at the LDS Chapel located at 1500 Amador Lane, Henderson, Nevada 89012.  A viewing will be held from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m.  Flowers can be sent to this location on Friday from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m.  Interment will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Las Vegas, Nevada.
