Funeral Recording
Heaven’s gates opened today to welcome home one of her earthly angels when Sara passed away on April 21, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.
Sara was born in Parowan, Utah on July 15, 1926 to Archie Benson and Caroline Euphamia Nelson. After mom graduated from Parowan High School, she moved to Provo, UT to attend beauty school. Upon graduating, she returned to Parowan and purchased her own salon.
On July 2, 1947, she married Ralph Woolley Bayles. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George Utah Temple. They had over 50 years together. These years were spent raising two children, and enjoying boating, golfing, traveling, dancing and of course - playing cards. Two of their most cherished times were serving in the Salt Lake City Utah Temple and then later serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Ft. Lauderdale Florida. Many special friendships were made during these years.
Five years after Ralph’s passing, Mom was blessed to find love and companionship again. She married Howard M. Thorley on July 15, 2010. They spent ten years in what mom called her “Honeymoon Marriage”. Always showing their love and appreciation for each other, until Howard’s passing on November 26, 2020.
Mom was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. Her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ was strong and never failing. Her passion was her family and a hot game of Bridge. She loved to entertain and was happiest when hosting friends for lunch or dinner and a game of cards afterwards.
She leaves behind her two daughters, Holly (Brent) Orgill, Pam (Randy) Nelson, 6 Grandchildren, Noelle Nelson, Craig Reeves, Sara Nelson, Breann (Josh) Edge, Samantha (Eric) Bresee and Morgan DeHart. Along with thirteen Great Grandchildren. Howard's children Howdy (Janet) Thorley, Pete (Chris) Thorley, Todd (Jan) Thorley, Rachelle (Pepper) Murray, Robynn (Jack) Whittier and Kathryn Ann (Darin) Swain, along with many grandchildren. All of whom hold a special place in her heart.
We as a family would like to thank the staff at Legacy House South Jordan and Aspire Hospice Care, for the compassionate care they provided to mom in her last few months. They were truly a blessing in our lives.
