Roy Burrell Smith

Roy Burrell Smith, 79, passed away at home surrounded by his family on July 11, 2011.
He was born December 23, 1931 in Pueblo, Colorado to Burrell Swanson Smith and Elva Leone Richins. He grew up in Coalville, Utah and graduated from North Summit High. He attended Utah State University. He married Bernice Blunck in the Salt Lake Temple on May 14, 1954.
Roy was a sergeant 1 st class in the 96 th Infantry Tank Corp Reserves. He was an amateur radio operator, call sign K7YPG and enjoyed gardening and bee keeping.
Roy worked in the hardware industry as an architectural hardware consultant. He retired from Architectural Building Supply in 1996.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. While serving in the Young Men’s, he received his Master M-men award. He served many years as ward clerk. He served a stake mission and a family history mission with his wife.
Roy is survived by his loving wife, Bernice; twin brother, Ray J. Smith; sister, Norma Wall; children, Dennis (Pauline) Smith, Gregg (Julie) Smith, Lori (Larry) Anderson, Cherylanne Smith; 14 grandchildren and soon to be 18 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 18, 2011, 12:00 p.m. at the Salt Lake Olympus 8 th Ward, 2700 East 4430 South. There will be a viewing Sunday, July 17, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the church and Monday prior to services from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. Interment Larkin’s Sunset Gardens.
