Rodney Lamont Lamb
1953 - 2017
Rodney Lamont Lamb, 64, passed away suddenly on November 4th 2017 while vacationing with his sweetheart in the Cayman Islands. Rod was a wonderful man, loved by many who called him son, husband, dad and grandpa, brother, doctor and friend.
Rod was born to Lamont and Darlene Lamb on Jan 21st, 1953. His parents raised him to be a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was diligently taught about Jesus Christ and chose to follow the Savior by dedicating his life to serving others. Rod served a full time mission to Japan where he taught others about Jesus Christ.
After his mission, Rod met and married the love of his life Janice Cooley August 15th, in the Salt Lake temple. Rod loved going on adventures and enjoyed taking Jan to see many parts of the world. They traveled to Peru, Indonesia, Europe, India, and many other places. He dedicated his life to serving Jan. Rod always put Jan’s needs before his own.
After completing schooling, Rod and Jan moved their young family to Denver, Colorado to join a OB/GYN practice and raise their three children, Chris, Chelsea and Cameron. Through his example Rod taught his children the importance of education, charity, patience, sacrifice and to love the Savior. His children loved their Dad and often asked for his advice and direction. Rod made sure his kids grew up to be successful in their own way and to attend and cheer on Brigham Young University.
Rod’s greatest joy in life will always be his 7 grandchildren. He wanted to be involved in all his grandkids’ lives. He wanted nothing more than to be at every sporting event, dance recital, birthday, and baptism that his grandkids were a part of. He knew each grandchild in their own special way. He loved them very much and always found time to serve them.
Because of his desire to serve others, it wasn’t hard for Rod to dedicate himself to becoming an Obstetrician. Dr. Lamb found great joy in helping deliver babies. He loved his practice and working with those who shared his vision. Rod filled his life with work and family and often sacrificed his own time for others.
Although we miss him dearly, we can find peace in the knowledge that life does not end with death and that families can be together forever.
