Robert Lawrence Leake

February 22, 1928 – August 8, 2014

On August 8, 2014 our wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend left us to continue his eternal journey.  We miss him greatly.  His example of integrity, hard work, compassion, and love, cannot be excelled.
Robert was born to Lewis & Margery Leake in Denver, CO February 22, 1928.  They moved to Utah, and due to Bob’s attendance at LDS Primary with friends, stake missionaries taught their family and they joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  After graduating from South High School he joined the United States Coast Guard.  Three years of service, included being stationed on Lake Michigan, and the ‘Forbidden Island’ of Niihau.  He then filled an outstanding mission in the Central Atlantic States, covering North Carolina and Virginia.
Bob earned both a Bachelors and Masters degree from Brigham Young University, and a Doctorate degree from the University of Utah.  He taught at BYU, U of U, and USU.  He served as specialist of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation for the State of Utah.  He was HPER Department head at USU, Associate Superintendent of public instruction for the State of Utah.  Upon retiring he worked for the Priesthood Department of the Church and loved it.
Bob served in many church callings including; Sunday School and Priesthood teacher, Young Men Leader, Stake Young Men President, Bishop twice in Murray and Butler, Counselor in the Stake Presidency, Church Curriculum, Correlation, and Activities Committees, and Stake Patriarch.
On June 10, 1953, Bob and LuJean (daughter of Victor and Lula Mortensen) were married in the Logan Temple.  They are the parents of 8; Daniel R. Leake (deceased), Robbie & Larry Thompson, Susan & Chris Boyack, Steven & Nannette Leake, Janeen Willis, Holly & Steve Dupaix, Kristi & Todd Knudsen, Julie Leake (deceased).  Grandfather of 19, and Great Grandfather to 10.  He taught his family to work hard, love the Lord, love life, be adventurous, and go and do.
