Robert (Bob) Hurst

1935 - 2014

Our husband, father, grandpa, great grandpa, age 79, passed away unexpectedly on August 20, 2014. Born May 28, 1935 in Price, Utah to Robert John Hurst and Louisa Potter Hurst. Married Janet Lee Rowley, August 7, 1957, Price, Utah. They have four children, Marilyn (Gary) Ritzman, David (Belinda) Hurst, Janis Hurst, Laura (Chris) Francese. Robert has 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and they were the light of his life.

He attended Carbon College where he received an Associate’s Degree and then served in the Utah National Guard for eight years and He worked for Utah Power and Light (Pacificorp) for 35 years as a substation construction supervisor. After retiring from Utah Power he worked for Lamb Construction and Engineering. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, snow skiing, water skiing, farming and spending time with his animals. He was fascinated by the process of gold and silver mining. He was very skilled in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, auto mechanic, and could fix or build just about anything.

Preceded in death by his parents and brother, Clyde Hurst. Survived by his wife Janet, children, grandchildren and sister Joy Mickelson.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 25, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at the Cottonwood 3rd Ward, 6301 South 2300 East. A visitation will be held Sunday, August 24, 2014, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Cannon Mortuary, 2460 E. Bengal Blvd. (7600 S.) and the day of the service at the church from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Interment Elysian Burial Gardens.
