Rina Maria Conway
1926 - 2015
Our sweet and feisty mum, grandma and nonna, Rina Maria Conway, died peacefully in her sleep on Monday, 2 February 2015. She struggled with heart failure after breaking her hip after Christmas.
Rina was born on 13 October 1926 in Drenchia, Udine, Italy to Maria Luigia and Antonio Trusgnach. Mum left hard times in Italy, and went to join her sister in Cambridge England in 1958. This is where she met her Irish husband, Martin Conway. She gave birth to triplets (John, Martyn, and Linda). They had one more son Antoni 2-1/2 years later.
She joined the LDS church in May 1972 and has been a faithful member ever since, having served many callings, her favorite in the nursery with the little children. She served a mission at the LDS family history library from August 2008 to August 2009. She assisted with translating Italian and Yugoslavian. She loved going to the temple often. She loved serving.
She was hard working every day of her life. She worked four jobs to help support her two sons on LDS missions. She was a homemaker, caretaker, housekeeper, nurse’s aid.
She moved to Utah on 1 February 2009 and said this was "her last stop". Indeed it is and she has loved and been loved by so many in her ward, neighborhood, a women's group, her water aerobics class, and every where she went.
Rina was preceded in death by her husband, Martin, who died 5 February 1993, and her daughter, Linda, who died 16 January 2011. She was also preceded in death by her parents and three sisters and one brother.
Family is everything to Mum. She is survived by her sons, John (Wendy), Cottonwood Heights, Utah; Martyn (Becky), England; Antony of Cambridge, England; son-in-law Rick Shelley, Tempe, Arizona; four grandchildren: Kent and Aden, Tempe, Arizona; Alice, Exning, England; and Sarah, SLC, Utah. Rina is also survived by her very dear friend and neighbor, Jessica Maher.
Mums life will be honored at a funeral on Saturday, 7 February 2015, at 10:00 am at the Butler 18th Ward, 6600 South Greenfield Way (1720 E.), Cottonwood Heights, Utah. A viewing will be held at the same chapel one hour prior to the funeral and also Friday evening from 6-8pm. Rina will be interred at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
Thank you to all the hospital workers, home health and hospice workers for their short stay. Thank you to wonderful friends, ward and neighbor ladies for their care and food. Most of all thank you to special friends, Yvonne Webster and Russell Lane of Cambridge England, who sacrificed of their personal lives to give devoted love and care to Rina the past 2-1/2 weeks of her life.
