Richard (Dick) S. Edgley
1937 - 2013
On Monday, November 18, 2013, at the age of 76, our amazing husband, father, grandfather, and brother surrounded by family passed away. Richard “Dick” was born August 2, 1937, to Noma and Stanley Edgley and raised in Ogden, Utah. He loved to share stories of his childhood, riding his bike with his shotgun on his back and ditching school to go fishing. Dick was always out for a great adventure and that is how he lived his life. One of his greatest adventures was designing and building a family cabin in Star Valley, Wyoming. Dick was always working on home improvement projects and making beautiful pieces of furniture for his family. He also loved to hunt, fish, golf, and to cheat while playing cards with his grandchildren.
The love of family was Dick’s greatest strength and his grandchildren and children are lucky to have so many special memories of their “Pa.” None of them will ever forget Pa’s pinch bugs, the cry of the Kiki bird, and jiggle hugs.
Dick earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Utah and spent the majority of his career in management at Hercules/ATK. His career included several transfers that resulted in many exciting adventures in California, Michigan, and Utah.
Dick will be forever missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife Lynnette, his children Christine (Chase) Hymas, Colleen (James) Edgley-Tycer, Curtis (Rachael) Edgley, five remarkable grandchildren: Mitchell, Nathan, Connor, Lance, and Eliana, and his always loving sister Patricia (Austin) Doolittle.
A remembrance will be held Saturday, November 23, at Cannon Mortuary, 2460 Bengal Blvd (7600 S.) Salt Lake City, Utah from 3-5 p.m.
