Rex Kib Stutznegger

December 15, 1942 — January 19, 2025

Kib Stutznegger, age 82, passed away peacefully in San Ignacio, Belize on Sunday, January 19th, 2025.

Kib was born December 15th, 1942, in Tooele, Utah to Rex Dale and Helen Stutznegger. Kib was preceded in death by his wife Camilla “Cassie” Stutznegger, Sister Luta Cox, as well as his parents. Kib is survived by his sister Loya Moscon of Bountiful, Utah, brothers Ivo, Sandy Utah and Jed Stutznegger, Salt Lake City, Utah, Son Conrad (and wife Courtney) Stutznegger, Salt Lake City, Utah, and daughter Carrie Stutznegger, DeFuniak Springs, Florida. Kib had 4 grandchildren that he loved deeply. Weston, Will, Lucy, and Ford. Kib was a father figure to many throughout his life and will be missed.

Kib attended Tooele High School and then graduated from the University of Utah. He then continued his education, attending Dental School at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. After finishing Dental school in 1969, he practiced in downtown Salt Lake City in the Judge building with his uncle Orin Stutznegger. He later opened a private dental practice in East Millcreek, Utah and then finally started his longtime practice in West Jordan, which he ran until his retirement in 2008.

Kib was a lifelong fan of the University of Utah basketball and football teams and attended every game he could during the 30+ years he lived in Salt Lake City. Kib was also devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served a mission in Canada and Alaska under President Thomas S. Monson. He was a long-time member of the Grandview 1st Ward, in the Salt Lake Wilford Stake; as well as the Santa Elena branch of the Cayo district in Belize.

Kib loved to travel, and cruises were some of his favorite vacations. It was on a cruise where he visited Belize for the first time in 1999. He immediately loved the country and took more vacations there over there next few years. This is when he decided that Belize was where he wanted to spend the rest of his life. After retiring in 2008, he loaded up a U-Haul with his possessions and moved to San Ignacio, Belize where he spent his last 17 years. Kib loved to explore that beautiful country and also to show it to his friends and family so that they could also experience the many wonderful places there. He was very involved in church service and helping the missionaries during his time there. Kib enjoyed the “simple life” during his twilight years in Belize. He loved to read and could often be found reading a book while enjoying time outside. He will leave behind many friends and loved ones in Belize as well as in Utah.

A memorial service for Kib will be held on Saturday February 1st at 2pm at the Fortuna Building of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, located at 4407 S. Fortuna Way, Salt Lake City, UT 84124.
