Our loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend, Monte Ewell, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on September 25, 2024, at age 92.
Born July 9, 1932, in Provo, UT to Hosmer and Alice Ewell. He married Karla Stephensen on October 1, 1955. Later solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple.
Monte served 4 years active duty in the Airforce as a radio operator during the Korean War. He then went on to work in communications for 41 years at the FAA in service to the people of the United States of America. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and felt blessed to be a current recommend holder.
Monte loved music. He sang and yodeled his whole life. His happiness and positive personality would burst out of him quite frequently with a song or yodel from morning until night. You would find him singing with staff at the hospital or strangers in the community.
Monte loved his family and the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting with his brothers and was a passionate gardener. He began to sew later in life and loved making quilts and giving them to loved ones. Monte and his sweetheart Karla enjoyed creating crafts to sell at fairs, going square dancing, and vacationingtogether with their girls in the desert. He was obsessed with his Double Delight roses and an avid BYU football and basketballfan.
Monte loved, was loved, and will be missed.
Survived by daughters Julie (Kim) Walkowski, Janet (Peter) Rhone, Kathryn (Martin) Rogers; 7 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren; brothers William, Richard, and Gene Ewell.
