Mark Porter Beckstrom

1966-2011

On March 26, 2011, after many years of numerous health issues, Mark is now at peace in a better place.  Mark was born to Ronald S and Jean Porter Beckstrom on March 28, 1966 in Murray, UT.

Mark lived in Salt Lake City and Midvale, UT. He was an Eagle Scout and served a mission in Red Lodge, MT.  Mark married Sylvia Mejia, the love of his life, in the Jordan River Temple on September 28, 2001. Mark will be missed by his wife Sylvia, brothers and sisters: Deanna (Russ) Peterson, Kris (John) Baker, Mary (Ron) Bailey, Rolayne (Sam) Hanson, Patti (Larry) Griffith, Ron (Lenore) Beckstrom, Bob (Dana) Beckstrom and Laurel Beckstrom.  Mark is also survived by the Mejia family, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and father-in- law, Domingo Mejia.

Mark had a passion for developing electronic devices.  He loved animals of all kinds, especially his dog, Angel and cat, Mambo. Mark loved any kind of family activity and always looked forward to trips to Mill Hollow. Mark loved to tease and was always joking and making people laugh.

A celebration of Mark’s life will be held at Midvale Union Fort 7 ^th Ward, 6770 South 500 East, 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, March 31, 2011.  Friends may call one hour prior to the funeral service at the church or on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Cannon Mortuary, 2460 E. Bengal Blvd. (7600 S.).  Interment Larkin Sunset Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations at any Wells Fargo Bank in the name of Sylvia Beckstrom.  The family would like to thank Mark’s devoted care providers at the IMC Heart and Lung Institute.
