Margie Loy (Carter) Brown

March 28, 1933 — January 16, 2025

West Jordan

Our small but mighty Mom, Grandma, GG, Margie Loy Brown returned to the loving arms of our Heavenly Father on January 16, 2025, at Sunridge Assisted Living and Memory Care in West Jordan, Utah. Margie was born on March 28, 1933, in Provo, Utah, to Elmo LeVon and Dora Gourdin Carter. She was raised in Provo and graduated from Provo High School in 1951.

During her senior year, Margie met and fell in love with the love of her life, Theodore Rodnie (Rod) Brown. Just two weeks after graduating high school, they were married on June 13, 1951, in the Salt Lake Temple, beginning a beautiful partnership that spanned more than 60 years. Margie was a faithful and devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in many callings. Her ward families became like an extension of her own family, and she always made sure to offer love, care, and service to those around her.

In the early years of their marriage, Margie dedicated herself to raising their children, and she worked alongside Rod in the family business, Advanced Protection Company. Later, she found fulfillment in her work at the University of Utah Medical Center until her retirement.

Margie was known for her unwavering love and devotion to her family. She had a natural gift for sewing and quilting, and she created countless beautiful quilts, many of which were lovingly made for her grandchildren. Margie’s greatest joy was spending time with her loved ones. She especially loved “The Little Children” as she called them. She had the “worst case of FOMO” (fear of missing out), always eager to be included in whatever her family was doing. Whether it was camping at Bear Lake or enjoying the annual Carter family reunion in Ophir, some of her happiest memories were made in the company of her family.

In 1959, Margie and Rod moved to Granger, Utah, where they raised their young family. In 1974, they made the decision to move to Cottonwood Heights, Utah, where they continued to build their lives and their family. In 1994, they relocated to South Jordan, Utah, where they spent many happy years before Margie became a resident of Sunridge Assisted Living.

Margie is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rod Brown; their two sons, Theodore Rodnie (Ted) Brown and Von Perry Brown; and her grandson, Jamie Mitchel Brown. She is survived by her children: Jeff (Cheryl) Brown, Tim (Jolene) Brown, and Michelle (Steve) Christensen; 16 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

Margie’s legacy of love, faith, and devotion to her family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. Her example of selflessness, kindness, and joy will forever be remembered and cherished.
