Lillian Marie Heenan
1917 - 2011
Lillian Marie Heenan entered this life on October 27th, 1917. She left it November 16, 2011. It is a better world because she was here. Born in Independence, Missouri, to William E. and Birdie Crenshaw, she lived a rural life as a child. A graduate of Kansas University nursing school, she enlisted in the U.S. Army immediately after Pearl Harbor. She took part in the North African and Italian campaigns caring for injured soldiers, an experience that would shape her life. She married Peter J. Heenan in 1946, and raised 4 children, Caroline, Bill, Mary Jane, and Marsia. She was an honored veteran, a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a compassionate healer, and a lifelong friend. She had a positive impact on everyone she met, and our lives will be lessened with her passing. A devout Catholic, her faith has been justified, as she receives her final reward.
