Kathy was born on Sept. 29, 1942, in Payson, Utah, to Roscoe J. and Virginia Bench Memmott.
Raised in Nephi and Spanish Fork, Utah, Kathy attended Snow College.
She married Clayton Everett Peterson on Nov. 6, 1971, immediately claiming his sons, Larry Junior Peterson and Michael James Peterson, as her own. Clayton and Kathy were sealed in the Manti Utah Temple on Sept. 27, 1975. Kathy’s greatest joy came from being a mother to their son, Troy Clayton Peterson.
After Clayton’s death on Sept. 29, 1995, of cancer, Kathy worked for ZCMI and then Macy’s department stores. She traveled the globe, marveling at all she saw and all the people she met. Kathy’s many friends were all best friends. Defined by her optimism, childlike faith and genuine kindness, she spent hours walking her neighborhood, greeting animals and children and engaging in numerous conversations.
A devoted and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she taught Primary, studied the gospel on Monday evenings with friends and personally delivered birthday greetings to members of the Willow Creek 6th Ward Relief Society for decades. She spent her final years at Escalante Assisted Living Center, enjoying meaningful associations.
She is survived by her sons; daughter-in-law: Linda Peterson, Charlene Peterson and Jodi Gleave; 13 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren; brothers: Clyde Memmott and Bill (Colette) Memmott and sisters: Barbara Aylett and Laura Lee Kirkman. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents and sister Emarie Richardson.
A memorial service will be held at a later date; interment in the Manti Cemetery, Manti, Utah.
