Karl Loy Smith
“Masher”
4/16/1939 – 3/23/2014
Our loving husband, father, grandpa and great papa, Karl Loy Smith “Masher” passed away March 23, 2014, at home after a long battle with heart disease and other complications.
Born April 16, 1939 in Ogden, Utah to Loy Bowden Smith and Clata Dockstader Smith. Married Georgia Job Smith on April 16, 1966 in Elko, Nevada.
Masher was an avid outdoorsman; he loved fishing, boating, camping, snowmobiling and four wheeling. His passion was going to the Book Cliffs with his hunting buddies. He enjoyed rifle, archery and black powder hunts.
He loved his family, enjoyed family BBQ’s, Dutch Oven cooking and mountain man breakfast. You could always count on Karl to throw out a wise crack. He was a tease. Grandpa Karl had a special place in his heart for each of his grandkids. Little Breck has been what kept him going the past year.
He owned and operated Quick Cement Company for over 40 years. In later years Masher was known to frequent the Cotton Bottom for his morning and afternoon coffee.
Survived by wife, Georgia; daughters, Kelly (David) Miller, Debbie (Aaron) Kidd, Stacie (Mike) Brewer, Jodie (Scott) Nielsen, Karla L Smith; 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; sister, Tonya Davidson.
