Julie passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family after a long, incredibly strong and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, Julie grew up in California but then returned to Utah in 1988. Julie leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion. Her special energy of kindness and boundless generosity touched everyone she met. Known for her selfless nature, she was the kind of person who would literally give the shirt off her back. Julie cared deeply about those that she loved. She had many friends throughout her lifetime and cared about everyone she knew. Her spirituality and wisdom served as a guiding light for those around her. She taught us all what is truly important in life: how to live fully yet simply, embracing each day with grace and gratitude. Throughout herlife, Julie exemplified lessons from the “Inner Child” program, which influenced her understanding of what it means to live a fulfilled and meaningful life.
Julie had a profound love for nature, dogs, fishing, surfing, and sports. Julie’s artistic abilities were matched only by her passion for music, where she was unbeatable at "Song Pop." Her culinary skills made her a beloved cook. Her incredible humor, contagious laugh and positive outlook brought joy to those around her.
Her artistic flair was evident in the many years she worked as a graphic artist. Julie also worked for years as the garden manager at Lowe’s where she showcased an extraordinary knowledge of every plant and flower.
Julie leaves behind a rich tapestry of deep relationships and cherished memories. Her legacy of love, laughter, and generosity will forever be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Survived by her son Tristyn “Pudgy Man” (Emberle), stepson Drew (Tara), mother (Maxine Baker), siblings Jeff Baker (Leni), LeeAnn Ashton-Ruark (David), Laura Belgique (Guillaume), nieces and nephews (Jason, Melissa, Alex, Riley, Julien, Fiona), soulmate Lorie, beloved friends Cindy and Denise and many others. She is preceded in death by her father J. LaVell Baker.
Special thanks to the extraordinary care given by all of Julie’s oncology staff at Utah Cancer Center as well as the medical and hospice team at Holy Cross Jordan Valley Hospital.
Julie will be greatly missed, but we take comfort knowing that Julie now flies high and pain-free, her spirit forever shining in the slivers of moonlight and the colorful hues of dawn.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, 11:00 AM at Cannon Mortuary, 2460 Bengal Blvd, Cottonwood Heights, UT 84121.
