John Richard "Jack" Bair
1943 - 2017
John Richard "Jack" Bair our beloved husband, father and grandfather, returned home to his Father in Heaven on April 24, 2017. Jack was born April 29, 1943 as the third and last child of John Seldon and Laura Clarissa Greene Bair in Salt Lake City, Utah. He spent an idyllic childhood growing up in Butlerville (now Cottonwood Heights) working on his parent's fruit and tree farm, enjoying many wonderful friends and neighbors. He spent many hours on his horse "Sunshine" when he wasn't doing chores. He loved his two older sisters, Lynette and Janice. Jack's love, respect and admiration for his mother and father knew no bounds, confirming to us that his reunion with them once more was one of great joy!
After graduation from Jordan High School and a year of service in the Army, Jack was called to the Northern Far East Mission, where he labored for two and one half years throughout many cities in Japan. He grew to love the land, culture and most especially the people. In 1968, the highlight of his life was when he married his eternal companion, Kathy Loumis in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together they have spent 48 years serving, loving and laughing together. He attended and graduated from the University of Utah.
We honor you Jack for your many years of unconditional love and service toward your family, friends and many church callings. Jack spent most of his adult life in the timber and paper industry, while traveling abroad employed in many states and Southeast Asia. Upon retirement Jack and family returned to Utah to assist on the tree farm.
Jack will always be remembered by his loved ones as a kind and gentle man; a man who held his head high through all of life's challenges and joys. It was his priority to care deeply for his family and be a genuine friend and serve others.
Jack is survived by his dear wife Kathy, children, Andrea, Jeff (Heidi) and Misty, grandchildren, Adam, Jason, Nathan, Alex (serving in the Rio de Janeiro, Brazil mission) and Kaity. He is also survived by his sister, Lynette (Gene) Jensen, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by parents and sister, Janice.
