Jay Francke Abplanalp 86, passed away, March 14, 2014 Sandy, Utah. Born November 3, 1927 in Vernal, Uintah County, UT to John William Abplanalp and Claricy Arnold Abplanalp. Married Euelues Cora Winward Abplanalp, 14 July 1948 in Vernal and later solemnized their marriage 20 September 1954 in the Salt Lake LDS temple.
Dad was the manager of Ashley Farmers Co-op for many years in Vernal. We moved to Salt Lake in 1968 to enable all the kids to go to college. He owned Jay’s Gulf in Cottonwood Heights for several years. He later worked as regional manager for Top Stop.
He and all five brothers served in the military during WWII.
Survived by children, Pamela & (Bill) Curtis of Colorado Springs, CO; David & (Flora) Abplanalp, Littlefield, AZ; Kim & (Sandi) Abplanalp, Riverton, UT; 14 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Fay Davis. Preceded in death by parents; step-father, David Jones; sister Ted Crites; five brothers, Ferrell, Harold, Theron, John and Tom and two great-grand daughters and his Eternal companion, Euelues.
Funeral services will be held, Tuesday, March 18, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at the Cottonwood Heights 3rd Ward, 6890 Whitmore Way, Cottonwood Heights. A visitation will be held at Monday, March 17, 2014 at Cottonwood Heights 3rd Ward from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. and the day of the service from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. Interment with Military Honors will be held Wednesday, March 19, 2014 11:00 in the Vernal City Cemetery.
