On April 16, 2025, Janet Major left this world peacefully and reunited with her beloved daughter Lisa, a moment we know was filled with pure joy and endless hugs. While we feel the deep ache of her absence, we also celebrate a life that was full of love, laughter, and beautiful memories.
Born on September 25, 1942, Janet was a woman of quiet strength, simplicity, and deep devotion to her family. She spent 61 years married to the love of her life, Chuck Major, after being set up on a blind date by her cousin Judy and Steve. That date was just the beginning of a lifetime of love, partnership, and legacy.
Together, Janet and Chuck raised two daughters — Lisa Ann Major and Jennifer Palmer — and built a family that became her everything. She poured her heart into her grandchildren, Olivia and Jordan Palmer, and her great-grandchildren, Ava and Luka, who brought her endless joy and a sparkle in her eye.
Janet worked at Zions Bank for an incredible 59 years, admired for her dedication and intelligence. Outside of work she was a night owl, had a zest for life that showed up in the little things: daily Diet Dr Pepper, her love for Judge Judy, and her fierce game of Words With Friends — no one stood a chance!
She also had a deep love for cooking shows, eager to try something new. Even in her final days, she had to make a cheese ball she’d seen on TV. That was Janet — always thinking of others, always planning something that would bring joy to the people around her.
And when the holidays came around, nothing could stop her from making Christmas cookies — not even pain or exhaustion. It was tradition. It was love. It was her way of holding the family together.
She was our glue. The quiet strength that kept us steady. The soft voice of encouragement. The warm smile in every room. With her beautiful blue eyes and boundless heart, she lived many lives, each one centered around her family.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find peace in knowing she’s home now, hand-in-hand with Lisa, watching over us all. Her legacy is love, and it lives on in every laugh, every recipe card, every Holiday, and every memory.
Thank you, Janet, for loving so hard, for showing us how to be strong, and for making life so sweet
