Janet Elizabeth Cowan, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, went home to be with the Lord on February 21, 2014. She passed away at home after a long battle with cancer. However, Jan knew that “Whoever lives and believes in Christ will never die” (John11:25).
Janet was born December 4, 1938, in Denver, CO to Ernest and Elizabeth Schwab. She married Marvin Wesley Cowan on August 17, 1956, in Grand Valley, CO. Their love for each other and for the Lord have inspired and encouraged many for generations. Jan retired from Hercules in 1999 after many years of service.
She is survived by her husband; sons, David (Darlene) and James; daughters, Cynthia (Tom) Edwards and Kimberly (Steve) Schaffer; brothers, Ernest Schwab, Jr. and Walt (Betty) Schwab as well as thirteen grandchildren.
Memorial Service will be held Sunday, March 9, at 3:00 pm, at Sandy Ridge Community Church, 1829 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah. In lieu of flowers, Jan has asked that contributions be made to Samaritan’s Purse at www.samaritanspurse.org/ or P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.
