Our Loving and beloved mother and grandmother Irma Alma Richards, age 90, passed away on November 4, 2020 at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah of COVID-19.
Irma, a native New Yorker, was a spark of light and humor to everyone she met. She was born on May 14, 1930 to Dorothy and Abraham Cohen and grew up in the Bronx, NY.
Irma and her husband Ronald Richards moved their young family from Queens, NY, to Southern California in the mid-70’s.
After dealing with a serious brain surgery, Irma spent the past 20-plus years in assisted living, following her daughter Juliet’s family first to Idaho and ultimately to Utah, where she spent the last 9 years of her life.
Irma’s fighting spirit kept her going despite her less-than-desirable life situation. Irma would often dance and sing her way down the hallway of her assisted living—often stubbornly refusing to use her walker and stating phrases like, “oh hogwash” whenever her family encouraged her to use it.
Irma is survived by her daughters Juliet Maris Cullins and Alicia Ellen Richards, along with her grand children: Gradey Cullins, Connor Cullins and Adam Hulse
Irma’s friends will always remember her for her great sense of humor and signature red lipstick.
