Henrietta Ciaramella “Hennie’
1927 ~ 2017

Henrietta Ciaramella, beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Great Great Grandmother, passed away on November 1, 2017, In Cottonwood Heights, Utah.  She was born November 5, 1927 in Queens, New York to Samuel Greco and Frances Orza.  Henrietta married Nicholas Ciaramella on December 16, 1945 in Saint Anthony’s Church in South Ozone Park, New York.

She was the oldest of 9 children who grew up in New York during the depression.  After losing her husband, Nicolas, at the age of 52, she moved with her son and two daughters to Colorado where she spent 10 years.

She then moved to Utah where she spent the rest of her life.  She had a love of family who were very important to her and brought much happiness and joy.  She loved to cook Italian food and we have great memories of every Sunday morning waking up to the small of tomato sauce (with sausage and meatballs) cooking.  Sundays were always a day to gather together with family to enjoy food and each other.  She was an avid gardener whose garden looked like something you would see in the Better Homes and Gardens magazine. Henrietta was first in line come spring at Home Depot to make sure she got the best flowers and plants in Utah.  Her love for music was passed down to her children and grandchildren.   She sang with a beautiful operatic voice (in English and Italian) but could never seem to remember the words to the songs.  If she asked you what your favorite color was the next thing you know she would bring you a crocheted blanket.  When asked what kept her so young she would say you have to have a good sense of humor.  That she did for sure.  We all have so many wonderful memories, some serious, but mostly funny.  Even during her years with Dementia, she was still able to bring a smile to your face.

She taught us all the importance of family, patriotism, to be hard workers, have a sense of humor and to keep a stiff upper lip when things got tough to name a few.

Henrietta, aka, Grandma and Aunt Retta is survived by her children, Frank Ciaramella (Barbara), Carolyn Harrell (Royce), Andrea Greeno (Kemp) and MaryAnn Tutone (Louis); her 7 grandchildren, Dina Bittinger (Matt), Nicholas Tutone, Matt Ciaramella (Mckensey), Bradley Greeno (Melissa), Heather Tutone-Rast, Ashley Damm (Bradford) and Travis Ciaramella; 6 great grandchildren, Alicia Rogers, Gunnar Rast, Gabriella Greeno, Isabelle Ciaramella and Luke and Seven Damm; 1 great great grandchild, Braxton Felix; her brother, Joey Greco (Annette), Tony Greco and sister Frances Locascio.  Preceded in death by her husband, parents and five of her siblings.

A visitation will be held on Monday, November 6, 2017, 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 2015 E. Creek Rd. (7900 S.), Cottonwood Heights, UT, prior to a Funeral Mass celebrated on the same day at 11:00 a.m.
