Funeral Recording
Harry Christopher Kalehua Piltz, Jr, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away on January 29, 2020 in his home of natural causes.
Harry was born on September 30, 1943 in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Harry Christopher Kalehua Piltz and Pauline Leilani Caceres. He served in the Army from 1961 to 1967. He married the love of his life, Mary Wight, in Honolulu in 1997. Harry was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at age 70 (in 2013) and was sealed to Mary and to his parents in the Salt Lake City Temple the following year.
As a young man, Harry was a horseman (Hawaiian Paniola) and loved to ride and take care of his father’s cattle and horses and work their 2,000 acre ranch on Oahu. He was skilled at fixing any kind of motor and he found employment first as a mechanic, specializing in repairing foreign vehicles, then later as a mechanical engineer, installing and repairing elevators, for over 20 years.
Harry loved collecting guns and driving cool cars. One of his favorite memories was meeting Princess Kekauliki Kawananakoa and giving her a ride in his Hummer. Harry also loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Mary Wight Piltz, his 3 children: Tamara Richardson, Christopher Piltz and Cindy Piltz - also by his 7 step-children and 32 grand-children.
Harry was a true Hawaiian… a loving, kind-hearted man who will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him.
