1939 - 2017
Grant South Soderborg, loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away at home, surrounded by his family on October 10, 2017.
Born October 8, 1939, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to George Lloyd and Ruth South Soderborg.
He married the love of his life, Maureen Kay Darrah on June 28th1963, In the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Grant and Maureen enjoyed many great times with their dinner club friends, celebrating Christmas and life events, and just simply spending time with family.
His life was dedicated to serving others in many different avenues: in the Army Reserves, an LDS mission to the Great Lakes, many callings throughout his life within the LDS church with his favorite as Scout Master of troop 545. Whatever the service, he served with his heart.
Grant loved cars. It didn’t matter what it was…old, new, slow and especially FAST!!! He loved car shows and reminiscing of his own cars. He was one of the founding members of the exclusive Worriers Car Club.
He loved to be a part of the community, especially greeting his daily customers at his gas stations.
His love of music started with his Mother. Hymns could be heard in his childhood home which stayed in his heart throughout his life. The last few years he enjoyed leading the music in priesthood. His resonating base voice could be picked out of any choir he sang with. He enjoyed being a part of the Salt Lake Harmony Singers.
Preceded in death by his father, mother, brother, George, Step-sister, Kathy Palmer, and beloved wife, Maureen.
Survived by siblings: Sarah (Joe) Fenton, Steve (Joanne) Soderborg, Jean (Gil) Naisbitt, Ann (Bruce) Fillmore, David Soderborg. Step-siblings: Terry (Kathy) Dahlin, John Dahlin, Phil (Cheryl) Dahlin, Debbie (Bruce) Andrus.
Children: James (Bonnie) Soderborg, Krissy (Mark) Warner, Jud (Julie) Soderborg, John (Heather) Soderborg, Mickie Soderborg, and 13 grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, October 13, 2017, 12:00 PM at the Butler Hill Ward Chapel, 2695 East 7000 South. A viewing will be held Thursday, October 12, 2017, at Cannon Mortuary, 2460 E. Bengal Blvd. (7600 S) from 6-8 PM and the day of the service at the church from 10:30-11:45 AM. Interment Mountain View Memorial Estates.
