Funeral Recording
Our adventurous, energetic, uber loved mom, Oma, and friend passed away at 93 years old to be reunited once again with her husband, Heinz, who has been her love and best friend since she was 14 years old.
Gisela was born in Stadthagen, Germany where she spent her youth. Having survived the years of WWII and after Heinz’s mission, she married Heinz F. Rahde in 1952, and then immigrated to Salt Lake City, Utah that same year. However, Stadthagen was always home to Gisela.
Heinz and Gisela were a pair in all they did. They loved to laugh and loved the outdoors--to hike, to ski, to camp, and especially to travel. But more than all of that, they loved their family. So many incredible memories were made with Oma and Opa that bound us all together forever in their enormous love.
Heinz and Gisela were sealed to one another in the Salt Lake City Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on September 23, 1952. They sacrificed much to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ and taught their posterity through their example. Gisela was faithful in her Gospel service to the end. She served in many capacities and loved those opportunities to serve and spoke of them often. Her ward family was and is inexpressibly dear to her.
Gisela was preceded in death by her daughter Dolores Rahde Croxford (2016); son, Winfred (2017); and husband, Heinz (2019). She is survived by her daughter Monika (Jeff) Powell; 12 grandchildren (includes grands brought by Jeff); and loving great grandchildren.
We are so grateful to the staff and friends at Escalante (fka Wentworth) at Willow Creek. Their love was expressed often and felt deeply.
"To know her was to love her.”
