Gisela Cavalleri Conley

Gisela Bernadina Cavalleri Conley (Gigi), 87, of Bountiful Utah passed away peacefully on March 30,2023 at St. Marks Hospital surrounded by dear friends who loved her.   Born December 21, 1935 in Bigge, Olsberg Germany to Lorenz and Thea Cavalleri.  Gigi grew up in Germany and had three sisters (Gerti, Erika, Annalise) and one brother (Werner). 

Gigi became a US citizen and gave birth to two sons (Rand Bowman and Christofer Conley).   Gigi loved being a mother and adored her sons more than anything.  Gigi loved visiting Park City and Moab where she enjoyed skiing and hiking.  Gigi also loved dogs and had numerous fur babies she cared for over the years (Brandy, Karhu, Adonis and Fritz).   In her earlier years Gigi worked as a photographer and was the manager of a photo lab (Replicolor).  She was always taking pictures of the beautiful Utah scenery, local bars, wine and beer, but most of all she loved to take pictures of her two boys and her dogs.  Later in life Gigi imported German Wine and Beer to sell at local liquor stores, grocery stores and bars throughout Utah.  She made a lot of friends through her business interactions and was well known and loved by all who had the opportunity to work with her. 

Gigi was a loving and giving person to all who knew her.  She was a wonderful daughter, sister, mother, aunt and friend.  She always told the best stories and talked fondly of growing up in Germany.  Most of all she loved to share stories about her sons and their upbringing.  She was very proud of Rand and Christofer.  We will all miss Gigi’s wonderful personality and the joy she brought to us.

Gigi is survived by her son Rand, sisters Erika and Annalise and many nieces and nephews.   She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, sister and her son Christofer Conley.

A special Thank You to those who helped care for Gigi during the last years of her life:  Debi, Jimi, Shannon, Shaylea, Bryleigh, Tony, Eric, AJ and all of her wonderful neighbors.  Also thank you to the amazing staff of doctors and nurses at St. Mark’s hospital.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 from 9:00 – 10:00 at Cannon Mortuary 2460 E Bengal Blvd.  (7600 South)  Salt Lake City, Utah 84121 followed by a graveside service at 10:30  at  Sandy City Cemetery, 700 E 9000 S, Sandy Utah 84070.
