Beloved father, grandfather and brother passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on May 12th, 2021 after battling advanced liver cancer. George was born on September 4th, 1949 in Aleppo, Syria to Reuben Ouzounian and Mary Bozoghlanian Ouzounian. George, with his parents, migrated to the United States in 1955 to settle in Salt Lake City, Utah. His career started at the Gadsby Power Plant and advanced to become a system dispatcher with Utah Power and Light. Dad’s after retirement work was with Costco, where he was a gas station attendant; a company and role which he loved. Dad was passionate about the 2nd amendment rights and was an avid gun owner and collector. His favorite pastimes included the elk hunt, fishing adventures in lakes all over Utah, boat rides, taking the ATV’s in the back country and camping with family. He met his wife, Ruth Myers while working at the Gadsby plant and they were married on August 8th, 1981 in Salt Lake City. He was sealed to her on February 12th, 2019 in the Utah Draper Temple. Dad exemplified quiet service throughout the years by applying his skill and ability to fix just about anything for countless neighbors and friends.
He is survived by his brother Arthur Ouzounian (Sylvia); sister-in-law Siv Ouzounian; three daughters and two sons: Stefani, Erika (Joe), Ryan (Jannali), Rachel (Jonny), Jordan; 9 grandchildren: Calan, Noah, Chloe, Paizlyn, Mary Jean, Oliver, Eliza, Felix, Cooper. Preceded in death by parents, Reuben and Mary Ouzounian; sisters Angela and Josephine; brothers Albert and Sam; wife Ruth Myers Ouzounian.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 15th, 11am at the Union 5th Ward Chapel, 7784 S. Highland Dr. Cottonwood Heights, UT 84121. A viewing will be held on May 15th from 9am - 10:45am at the Union 5th Ward Chapel, 7784 S. Highland Dr. Cottonwood Heights, UT 84121. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
