Ferdinand Anthony Toval, beloved husband, father, brother and friend passed away in his home June 9, 2024, after a prolonged illness.
Born June 19, 1936, in New Orleans, La. to Ferdinand R. Toval and Agnes K. Francois (Toval). He was a proud of his Louisiana, Creole heritage and culture. Likewise, he was extremely proud of the 25 years, served in the United States Marine Corps, where he eventually retired as a Major.
“Fred” was a force of nature that left a powerful resonance, in any space he occupied. His personality attracted people. He was sharp-witted and jovial.
A force for doing the right thing.
A force for compassion for others.
A force for protecting the weak.
A force for inspiring others to do the same.
He valued wisdom, traditions, education, and technological advancements.
The consummate logical thinker, he was the first person to reason through any circumstance, and to put
systems in place to better the world around him; and by proxy, those blessed to be within his orbit.
Preceded in death by his first wife, Charlot, His parents, 2 Brothers: Calvin and Herbert, and 2 daughters: Renee Toval and Crystal Toval.
He is survived by his loving wife Graciela, his daughter Patricia Toval, Grandson Andrew DeBoer, Great Grand Daughter Kimber Mattingly, Son Kevin Crompton (Jackie), Brother Raymond Toval (Shunda), Sisters Carmen (Freddie) Johnson, Janet Audrict and Yvonne Handy. Plus, his beloved God Daughter, Gwen Kukoleca (Dolibor), Sister- in-law Raquel Siniscalco, Reza Salman, Sandra Fusaro and Sofia and Ali Salman, as well as extended Family and friends that he loved as family.
A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, June 18, 2024, 12:00 p.m. at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1375 East Spring Lane, Holladay, UT 84117. A Visitation will be held Monday, June 17, 2024, at Cannon Mortuary, 2460 East Bengal Blvd (7600 S.) from 6-8 p.m.
