Ernie was an avid golfer and a very proud and active member of Alcoholics Anonymous for the last 34 years of his life. Ernie was a successful small business owner in Salt Lake City and worked in the produce industry until age 70. When Ernie was 60 he met the love of his life Anna Ruth and quickly gained an instant family that loved and adored him.
He is survived by his sister Nadine Holt, his loving wife Anna Ruth, his stepchildren Holly(Chad Thomason), Hayden(Marnie Andrews) and Amanda(Eoghan O’Donnell) and his beloved granddaughters Madeline(Lexa) ,Olivia, Amelia Rose and Abby.

Ernie filled every space with love and laughter. He formed a special bond with each of his granddaughters and they adored their Grandpa Ern. On many Saturday mornings you could find them trekking to the gas station for candy, Dunkin Donuts for a jelly filled donut or Baskin Robbins for an ice cream with sprinkles and then sitting on the front porch spending time together. Ernie and Anna Ruth spent everyday on that front porch talking and greeting neighbors. He waved at every passer by and had special relationships with everyone on his street. Ernie was an incredible and amazing man and holds a special place in our hearts. He added so much to our lives and left us with wonderful memories. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. We love you Grandpa Ern!
