ELNA KONNERUP KRISTENSEN
1927 - 2014
After a long and accomplished life, Elna Konnerup Kristensen, beloved sister, aunt, and friend to many, passed peacefully from mortality in the morning of Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at her home in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Elna was born of goodly parents on January 30, 1927 in Borglum, Hjorring, Denmark to Peter Kristian Kristensen and Sara Konnerup. She was a twin weighing less than 4 pounds. She started life sleeping in a shoe box next to her twin brother Peer, and never felt that she needed much more than that.
Elna immigrated to the United States in 1956. She received her Nursing Certificate in Denmark and worked in the health profession until her retirement. She was an active member of the LDS Church and blessed many lives as she faithfully served her Heavenly Father.
Survived by her brothers Poul Erik (Kathleen) Kristensen, Richard Kristensen, sisters Karen (George) Mickelsen, Doris (Gary) Andersen, Maria (Tagg) Hundrup and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, brothers Peer (Betty) Kristensen, and Kristian (Inger) Konnerup, and sisters Ruth (Einar) Jensen and Anna (Herbert) Redd.
The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to those who have offered prayers, love, and support to Elna and her family. Thanks to hospice who cared so well for Elna during her illness and who made it possible for her to remain in her home surrounded by her family during her final days.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 31, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Fourteenth Ward, 142 West 200 North, Salt Lake City, Utah. Friends may visit with the family Friday morning at the Church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., prior to services. Interment at the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah.
