Donna Lou Hall Booth, died August 20, 2012, of natural causes, in Sandy, Utah, at the age of 87. She was born February 14, 1925, in Bingham Canyon, Utah, to Edgar Hall and Valera Foote Hall. She was privileged to be the mother of Larry Hall, Jim Warren (Terry) Booth, Kevin H (Jackie) Booth and Cynthia Booth (Frank) Muir and she was proud to be called
“Grandma”
by Jennifer Hall, Chad Warren Booth, Stephanni Nichole Booth, James Crouch Booth, Scott Andrew Booth, Craig Allen Booth, Shane William Muir, Krista Lee Muir, Erin LaOra Muir, Michelle Dee Muir, as well as “Great Grandma” by Macey Nichole Booth, Brandon Warren Booth, Kennedy Susan Booth, Brooklyn Lee Booth, Avery Lyn Booth, William Edward Muir, Jonathan Franklin Muir, and Maxwell David Peterson.
Donna moved with her family to Provo, Utah, in 1930. She attended school at Page Elementary in Provo , Lincoln Jr. High, in Orem, Utah, and Farrer Jr. High, in Provo. She graduated from L.D.S. Seminary in 1942 and graduated from Provo High in 1943. She also attended classes at BYU. She lived much of her life in Provo, but also resided in Orem; North Salt Lake, Utah; Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Sandy, Utah.
Donna was married to Floyd Warren Booth from June 29, 1947 to November 1967.
During World War II, she worked at the Army Supply Depot in Ogden, Utah, recording inventories. Later, she was employed by the LDS Church Education System for nearly 21 years doing library work as well as editing and compiling a book of library instructions used by Seminaries and Institutes throughout The Education System for over 20 years.
Donna loved the outdoors and riding in the canyons. She was an avid rock collector of gem stones and fossils and had many other interests and talents. She was a member of the Chauntenettes singing group and a member of the Ferreters Guild.
She was always an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions, including: Guide Patrol Leader for 16 years, Cub Scout Leader for several years, Primary Secretary, Counselor in Primary, and Counselor in Relief Society. She was also active in Stake and Ward Young Women’s Camp Programs, Assistant Librarian, “Singles over 30” leader, Spiritual Living teacher in Relief Society, Visiting Teacher for many years, and answered phones taking names for the prayer roll for 2 years in the Salt Lake Temple. While in Albuquerque, she was called to be an ordinance worker in the new Temple, a calling she had for about 2 ½ years. She was also called to be a Relief Society Teacher on Monday, at Silver Pines, the retirement community she was living at at the time of her death.
Donna loved family history work. She provided her family, and her extended family, an impressive book of all the research she done over the years
Survivors include her children; 10 Grandchildren; 8 Great-grandchildren; and a brother John F. (Jack) Hall. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Helen Olivia Hall [Nyte] and Rebecca Ruth Hall [Sanchez]; brothers, Alvin Edgar Hall, Arlin Thomas Hall, Edgar F. Hall, Duane F. Hall, and Bernard F. Hall.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, August 25, at 11:00 a.m. at the Crescent Park 4
th
ward, 10885 Pampas Way (830 East), Sandy, Utah, with a viewing at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Provo City Cemetery.
