Craig Holyoak, 64, passed away on January 13, 2015.  He was born July 10, 1950, in Salt Lake City to Royce and Iris Blackner Holyoak.
Craig attended Stewart Middle School at the University of Utah and studied art under Frank Erickson.  After high school, he served a two-year mission to Sao Paulo, Brazil.
He cartooned his way through college and his law enforcement career in Newark, California and Cedar City, before joining the Deseret News, where he worked for 26 years.  Craig is remembered for sharing witty cartoons and smart conversations with everyone he met.  He was known throughout the newsroom for his elaborate practical jokes.
Father of five children, two step-children and the grandfather of seven. Survived by brother Lynn Holyoak.  Preceded in death by his first wife, Sherri Foote Holyoak, parents, brothers Michael and Tony.
He married Nancy Harries Greenhalgh in 2004, and the couple enjoyed 10 happy years travelling whenever possible to bask in the red rock splendor of southern Utah.  They spent the last few years in Cottonwood Heights, where Craig was the curator of a large in-home library.
A Celebration of Craig’s Life will be held Saturday, January 31, 2015, 1:00 p.m. at the Cottonwood Country Club, 1780 E Lakewood Drive (5400 S.), Holladay, Utah.
