Cindy Lee Herd Graves
9/6/1957 - 4/30/2014
Our dear Cindy Herd Graves, wife, mother, sister, daughter, and friend, returned home to her Heavenly Father on the afternoon of April 30th, 2014 after a six year battle with cancer. She fought her cancer with a smile and never ceased to uplift those around her with her positive and determined attitude.
Cindy was born in Logan, Utah and grew up in Salt Lake City. She graduated from Brighton High School. Cindy served a mission to Montana, and earned Associates Degrees from both Utah State University and Brigham Young University. She married her sweetheart Mark Graves in 1986 and their life together took them from Colorado, to Utah, and Texas, raising 4 wonderful children. Cindy faithfully served in many callings for the church including ward Relief Society President and ward Young Women’s President. She was a gifted teacher and had many opportunities to serve in that capacity. Her faith and her family were the cornerstones of her life. Her love of springtime was next. Cindy was a great example of living life to the fullest and going through trials with a smile on her face. In 2012 the Graves moved back to Utah where Cindy spent the final two years of her life surrounded by family and friends who loved her dearly.
Cindy waged a courageous battle against breast cancer and won, only to find herself on the front lines again fighting this terrible disease. Through it all, her strength was an inspiration to everyone who knew her. Cindy was a gentle, kind, charitable & loving woman of great character & integrity. She was extremely talented and used her talents to benefit those around her. She was funny, humble & amazing in all ways.
Cindy is survived by her husband Mark Graves, sons Christopher and Brant Graves and daughters Austyn and Lindsay Graves, parents Paul and Nereece Herd, brothers Craig Herd, Michael (Laurel) Herd, Kevin (Melodee) Herd, Steven (Lani) Herd, and sisters Sheri (Larry) Mullins-Stauffer and Teresa Herd.
