Carolee (Merrell) Wood, our beautiful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, passed away on September 27, 2022, after a valiant battle with Alzheimer’s at age 78, surrounded by her loved ones and special caregivers at Summit Senior living.
Born October 30, 1943, in Payson, Utah to Orville Jerome and Nola Alice Merrell, Carolee enjoyed a wonderful childhood growing up in a small town. She married William Livingston Wood on May 8, 2006, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Carolee is survived by her husband William Wood, sons Jason and Shawn Knudson, daughters Stephanie Lyle and Jenny Chadwick; 19 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, and preceded in death by friends, Elvis and Mr. Rogers.
Carolee cherished friendships made throughout her life. Many of those were made as she was a beloved hairdresser for more than 50 years. She also adored the simple, beautiful things in life, like the changing of the seasons, flowers, and book-reading. Carolee was a creative artist, making collages and flora art of all kinds. She shared her most loving thoughts and emotions when writing beautiful cards and letters, sent just at the right time. Assuredly, her greatest joy in life was time spent with family, especially her grandkids, who often found themselves included in imaginative, one-of-a-kind, Gramma-Lee adventures.
With deepest gratitude and appreciation, we say goodbye Carolee, until that perfect day when reunited; we will look for you in all of life’s simple beauties.
