Carla Ruth Rogers

April 20, 1971 – July 6, 2016

Carla Ruth Dolson Rogers was born on April 20, 1971, to Ruth Claire Kidd and Carroll D. Dolson, in Salt Lake City, UT.  She graduated from Bingham High School in 1989 and the University of Nebraska in 1993 with a major in Finance.

She married Eric M. Rogers on August 5, 1995, in Sandy Utah.  To this marriage was born four children.

Carla was the most amazing wife, mother and daughter and made the divine transition into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Wednesday morning, July 6th. She finished this race well, living courageously with cancer the last several years.  She is survived by her husband, Eric, children, Noah Madison, Andrew Dean, Madilyn Ruth and Samuel Briggs, along with her parents, Ruth and Carroll Dolson and In-Laws, Bernice and Herb Rogers.

Carla loved God and wanted to live for Him the best she could in this broken world.  She lived out her life having peace because of Jesus’ work on the cross.  She did not need to earn His favor.  She liked John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me“.   She knew that she was completely loved and accepted by Christ.  This gave her freedom in life, never wondering if she had done enough to be accepted fully by Him.  Now, she has total freedom and is worshiping Him fully.  She is free from the pain she endured so bravely.  Carla was smart, strong, kind, caring, compassionate, giving, and a servant who did not look to receive glory, she left that for God.  She desired that those she knew and walked with would love God and live their best for Him.  She left her mark on the world and we will never fully realize what it was.

Carla loved her kids deeply. It showed in how she raised them; working on their hearts and behavior.  She loved to scrapbook; each child had a picture taken every day for their first year.  Carla homeschooled the children diligently until she could no longer due to the cancer.  Over Memorial Day weekend, Carla and Eric were able to make a trip to Carla’s favorite city in the world, New York City (also where she went for her high school graduation trip). Accompanying them, were great friends, Candice and Kyle Kugler.  They took in a couple of Broadway shows and saw the sites around the city.  It was a fantastic trip.

We would be remiss not to mention the terrific care Carla received at Huntsman’s Cancer Institute.   We could not have asked for better care from her outpatient team or the inpatient nurses, aids and doctors on the south wing of the fourth floor.  What a tremendous team.  “Thank you”!

This whole experience would have shattered us if not for our God and our amazing church family at Lifeline Community.  The love and support Carla and our family has received has been the literal hands and feet of Christ.  Carla cherished her church family and was forever grateful for the kindness she was given.

Services will be held Monday, July 11, at 12:00 P.M., at South Mountain Community Church, 14216 So. Bangerter Parkway, Draper, UT.  In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Lifeline Community Building Fund, 4431 W. 8200 So., West Jordan, UT 84088 in memory of Carla Rogers.
