Funeral Recording

Brent Warren North, age 79, passed away on December 1st, 2019, after enduring an arduous struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. He was surrounded by people who loved him: his loving wife of 61 years, Barbara Jean Paul North, his son Jim North (MaryLou), daughters Sandi Downs(Craig), Sheri North, Elizabeth McCash(Doug) and son Dan North(Connie).

Brent lived a great life with his best friend, Barbara, whom he married at the age of 18.  As a young couple they grew up, lived, learned and dreamed big together.

Brent was an electrician for 40 years and taught his kids how to work and play.  Additionally, Brent had a work vacation fund and took regular trips with his family, which usually included the use of a yellow station wagon.

Brent was blessed with the gift of being artistic and musical, enjoying hobbies such as painting, wood working, playing the trumpet, piano, violin, accordion, harmonica, and guitar—most of which he played by ear.  He also sang in choirs all of his life.

Brent had a passion for participating in sporting activities. He played football and ran track in high school, winning the state championship in the 4x100 relay. He absolutely loved racquetball.  He taught each of his kids how to play and we all remember sitting in the court and talking to dad about “life”.  He never passed up the opportunity to throw a ball, invent a game, or grab a volleyball and go play.

Dad was a member of the LDS church and passed on his honor and pride of being honest, truthful, and treating everyone very kindly. In fact, on several occasions he invited people into his home for warm meals and Thanksgiving dinners, sometimes people he didn’t already know. He was a rare gem and a genuine person.

Brent was a wonderful husband, father, dad, grandfather, great-grandfather, teacher, and friend.  He will be missed dearly. We love you and always will.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 6, 2019, 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Chapel located at 6890 S. Whitmore Way (2225 E).  A visitation will be held Thursday, December 5, 2019, at the Cannon Mortuary, 2460 E. Bengal Blvd. (7600 S) from 6-8 p.m. and the day of the service at the church from 10-10:45 a.m.
