Beverly Cloward Nielsen,79, passed away peacefully at home on April 16, 2024 after a brave battle with Lewy body dementia. She was born January 2, 1945 in Moroni, Utah to Amy Bulow and Donald Elliott Cloward. Beverly almost died from pneumonia as a young baby, but the doctor told her mother to put her outside in the fresh air and sunshine and she survived. For her entire life, Beverly was happy anytime she could be outside on a sunny day.
Bev graduated from North Sanpete High School and attended Snow College where she earned an associate degree in home economics. She enjoyed being a yearbook editor. At Snow, she met her sweetheart, Keith Christensen Nielsen. They were married on September 3, 1965, in the Salt Lake City temple. Beverly and Keith had a beautiful marriage and in their later years they were rarely apart. Beverly was devoted to Keith and lovingly cared for him through a long illness and many surgeries. Keith tenderly watched over Beverly as she struggled with dementia. Their family is grateful for their example and for the love they showed to each other. They were true companions in life and will be in eternity.
Beverly was a devoted and caring mother to her three children Michelle, Travis, and Justin. She absolutely adored her nine grandchildren, who affectionately called her Grandma B. They will miss her dearly. She attended concerts, recitals, sporting events, and competitions. She supported them and knew the details of their lives. She prayed for each of them daily. She taught them to golf, play tennis, and win at board and card games. She loved their lunch dates. Beverly made the best scrambled eggs, waffles and homemade Oreos and always had pistachio nuts on her counter. She loved taking her family on vacation to her favorite sunny spots.
Beverly was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She faithfully served in many positions. Her favorite callings were serving the young women of the church as a girls’ camp leader and stake young women’s president. As a relief society president, she had a deep love for the sisters in her ward and neighborhood.
Beverly loved Heavenly Father, the Savior, and teaching people about the gospel. She and Keith served as mission leaders in Sydney, Australia from 1991-1994. She loved the missionaries and they loved her. She cherished their time in Sydney and made many dear friends. Later in life, she and Keith served an inner city mission in Salt Lake City.
Beverly was a true friend. She loved a good scrabble game. She loved spending time with her friends and played in many golf, tennis, and bowling leagues over the years.
Beverly was a founding member and captain of The Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Little Willow Camp. Beverly served on the Snow College Foundation Board for years and helped many family members and friends obtain an education with Snow College scholarships.
Beverly is loved and will be deeply missed until we see her again.
Beverly is survived by her husband, Keith; children: Michelle Nielsen, Travis (Lisa) Nielsen, Justin Nielsen; grandchildren: Callie (Bryson), Quinton, Micah, Paxton, Sloane, Kate, Aubrey, Parker, and Paisley. She is preceded in death by her parents and four brothers: Don Jack, Bert, Lee, and Kim Cloward.
The family is grateful for all the kind caregivers, especially Carolyn, who made it possible for Beverly to remain in her home.
