Alvin Dee Goldman (a.k.a. Fireman Al)
Dec. 23, 1949 ~ Dec. 20, 2017
Alvin Dee Goldman, 67, passed on to his next adventure December 20, 2017. Al was born December 23, 1949, in St. Louis, Missouri. Al received a degree from Central Missouri State University and served in the Army until being honorably discharged in 1977. Al retired after working over 30 years in the public education division of the Salt Lake City Fire Department where many knew him as Fireman Al. He took great joy in teaching children the importance of fire safety with his robot pal Fireman Gizmo. Al also spent years serving as a practitioner and chaplain and had a knack for bringing comfort to those facing their own mortality. Al used humor to build relationships with those around him and took advantage of every opportunity to get to know other people.
Sadly, we also regret to announce the ironic passing of two of Al's close friends; Chief Lee Matchless and Dr. Ben E. Fisheree. Al was survived by his greatest sources of pride: Jacob (Erin) Goldman, Michael (Emily) Goldman, and Katie Goldman.
The family would like to thank his many close friends and invite you to his memorial services that will be held on Saturday, January 6th at 11:00 a.m. at the Center for Spiritual Living (332 Bugatti Ave. South Salt Lake 84115).
